If there was a sub-plot or subliminal message in Mourinho's team
selection on Monday, its use has backfired. For the one thing David
Moyes is surely certain of now is that he cannot sell Rooney to Chelsea.
There has always been the suspicion that if Chelsea returned with a
serious bid one that placed Rooney's value nearer the £35million mark,
Moyes might weigh it up against the potential for a season of
instability and get the deal done. Not any more
