Nicole Kidman takes the red carpet by storm in a sweeping red and black gown at the grand opening of Oriental Movie Metropolis

With 20 sound stages, an underwater studio and a multi-billion dollar investment, it’s been billed as China’s answer to Hollywood.
Given its ambition, the red carpet turnout for the opening of the not-yet-complete Oriental Movie Metropolis was always going to be a star-studded affair.
And so it proved on Sunday, when Nicole Kidman joined a veritable host of A-list talent at the event in picturesque coastal city Qingdao.

The 46-year-old actress dressed for the occasion in a sweeping sleeveless gown with a printed leaf design in stark red and black tones.
With her long hair delicately pinned on one side and her make-up reduced to subtle, naturalistic shades Nicole’s stunning dress claimed the limelight as she sashayed across the red carpet in a pair of strappy heels.
The statuesque star was joined at the event by a string of Hollywood’s finest actors, amongst them Leonardo DiCaprio, John Travolta, Kate Beckinsale and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Nicole had originally arrived to something of a fanfare in a smart black shirt and skinny trousers with a cream blazer and matching peep-toe heels.
Indeed, the actress was treated like royalty as she posed for photos and signed autographs for waiting fans – apt, given her next role will be as the late Princess Grace in forthcoming biopic Grace of Monaco.
The new movie making complex will be officially completed in 2017 at a cost of 50 billion yuan ($8.17 million).

Funded by wealthy property developer Wang Jianlin, it aims to produce more than 200 films a year while providing an enormous shot in the arm for the Chinese film and television industry.
‘The Oriental Movie Metropolis is a major step in China's strategy to become a global cultural powerhouse,’ Wang said.
‘It was not only crucial to the development of Wanda's entertainment business, but also an important step for building China's cultural brand.’
