Like wearing nothing at all! Cate Blanchett stuns in a nude gown as she is honoured at New York Film Festival

No one could ever question why Cate Blanchett is a muse to both the greats of fashion and film.
The 44-year-old was impossible not to stare at as she walked on to the red carpet in New York.
Channeling her Lord Of The Rings character, the Australian star bought an ethereal presence at the Gala Tribute to her on Wednesday evening.

While Cate making people do a double take is nothing new, her dress' colouring at the New York Film Festival Gala certainly had most people doing a triple take.
For the event in her honour the mother of three wore a blush pink lace dress that featured a plunging neckline as well as capped off the shoulder sleeves.
The delicate colour all but blending in with the star's porcelain skin making her seem almost naked.

Clingy to her svelte frame, the Armani Prive dress was perfectly complimented by a pair of matching pointed toe  Roger Vivier heels.
The look, combined with her fair hair, gave a sense of being void of colour except for the splash of bright red on her lips.

Sponsored by the Film Society fans were also shown Cate's new film Blue Jasmine.
In announcing they would be honoring Cate, Rose Kuo, Film Society Executive Director, gushed about the actress' talent.
'In the year that many critics are hailing her most recent - and perhaps greatest - performance, the Film Society is delighted to celebrate the career of Cate Blanchett.
'Since her breakthrough in Oscar and Lucinda in 1997, Ms. Blanchett has consistently mesmerized audiences with some of the boldest screen performances of the past twenty years.'

Prior to the red carpet, the Elizabeth star looked very different just a few hours early as she ran around busy Manhattan.
Instead of a near nude feminine ensemble, Cate donned a chic but almost Wednesday Adams inspired outfit.
During the day the 44-year-old stepped out in a simple black dress with a white Peter Pan collar.
The short dress showed off the star's slender pins that were made even longer looking thanks to some high black heels.

Fans should expect to see a lot more of Cate, with Oscar buzz already at fever pitch over her role in Blue Jasmine.
The Australian plays a fallen New York socialite, Jasmine, in the Woody Allen film.
Already Cate is a favorite for her portrayal of the Manhattan socialite having to adjust to a new much poorer life after her husband, played by Alec Baldwin, is arrested for dodgy business dealings.
